REVIEW: BLEACH 286

YAMMY'S RESURRECTION

This episode is like many other Bleach episodes where a lot goes on but nothing really happens. It starts with flash backs to what happened the previous week...which I do not see the point of really. It takes up too much air time! We then cut to Ichigo saving Rukia ,yet again, this time from Yammy. Yammy who is the most powerful of Aizen's creations apparently and looks like a big centipede mutant thing at this point. Yammy talks trash, Ichigo dodges his attacks and talks crap back.

RUKIA

We get a n interesting story point here. After his defeat of Ulquiorra and shifting into a full hollow resurrection state like the Arrancar do, his demeanor has changed. This is first noticed by Rukia and then by Ichigo himself. Ichigo blacked out during the whole resurrection and is struggling to make sense of what happened. He tries to don his hollow mask but realizes he can't. This gives our boy Yammy enough time to grab him and squeeze the bean curds out of him.Enter Byakuya and Kenpachi to sort of save the day. They both are itching for a fight and order Ichigo to be leave Yammy to them and go help the others back in the human world. Ichigo agrees reluctantly but is unable to go to the human world since they needed a doorway. Enter two more captains, Mayuri and Retsu who have a way to get him over to the human world to join the fray.

So yeah not a lot happens in this episode really. It more so was a showcase of the characterization we have grown to appreciate of all those involved. Byakuya tries to act aloof and be mean to Ichigo which is just his way of being nice to Ichigo. Kenpachi is getting the full on brawl with which he has been waiting for. Rukia ponders the evolution of her creation, Ichigo. Mayuri shows how weird he can be and in turn Retsu shows how weird she can be, being possibly the only captain that has been shrouded in almost complete secrecy. Oh and Yammy boasts and hits stuff as he so loves to do.

KENPACHI /BYAKUYA

Not a bad episode but just feels like filler and speaking of filler, next week seems to be a filler episode as well. The preview shows some arabic themed nonsense is going to grace our screens and seriously I am a bit fed up with this story and I can see no end to this until 2011.

My rating for this episode is a 6.5/10

BLEACH OVERVIEW

So this is the first of what i hope to be a long collection of reviews for the anime series Bleach.

For the uninitiated, Bleach is about an organization of samurai angels, yes samurai angels named Shinigami or Soul Reapers and their battle against demons/lost souls called Hollows. The Shinigami operate from a location called Soul Society which is heaven so to speak. 

Our main character is Ichigo, who is human not dead yet at least,  and his exploits as a substitute Shinigami. Which is another way of saying he is given the power to allow his soul to leave his body and act as a Soul Reaper. He is really powerful, has orange hair yada yada! 

Well the story thus far is one of the Shinigami captains, Aizen, betrays Soul Society and goes of the Hueco Mondo which is the place the hollows gravitate and he has experimented on the hollows and given them the ability to evolve into Arrancar which are like reverse Shinigami. Confusing? It can be but not that hard to follow. So Aizen forms his own little army of Arrancar to take down the Gotei 13 which are the thirteen guard squads of specialized samurai angels and then take over the human world. So yeah to catch up, the Gotei thirteen split up in two groups, some go with ichigo to Las Noche which is in Hueco Mondo to save Ichigo's friend Orihme who was taken by Aizen and the other half remain to battle Aizen and his Arrancars. 

So Ichigo has finally saved Orihime and is now about to take on the last and most powerful of the Arrancars and so starts episode 286!
