Yugioh 5d is always at its best when duels are its focus. Not just simple duels but duels where the protagonists are up against the wall and they pull a lifesaving strategy out of their anus just in time and with great dramatic effect.
Polar God Thor! |
The episode begins with Dragan summoning his ace monster the Polar God Thor up against Jack's Red Demon Dragon. Dragan and Thor make quick work of Jack's life points until he has only 900. What is revealed is that Thor's attack inflicts actual damage on Jack's person. This means the duel is physical dangerous and not just a game.
Team Ragnarok being snooty |
Jack retaliates by using a few smart tricks to reduce Dragan's life points by 1400 and then by 800 leaving him with 1200 life points. Jack then does a double scyncho summons using Red Demon Dragon and bringing forth his level 12, 3500 attack point ace monster Scar-Red Dragon.
SCAR-RED |
Dragan is prepared however, trapping Scar-Red and reducing its attack points to 2500 and preventing any traps or magic cards from being used against Thor.
POLAR GOD THOR VS SCAR RED NOVA DRAGON |
Jack pulls a play out of his ass pulling Scar-Red out of the duel. He then systematical revives Red Demon and then summons Scar Red Dragon again but with 5000 attack points finishing off Thor and Dragan's life points.
Team New World watch on |
Celebrating Jack's brief victory |
This victory is short lived however as Dragan reveals Thor is to be resurrected at the end phase and when this occurs Jack is dealt 800 points of damage. This leaves him with only 100 life points, Scar-Red and Team Ragnarok's next duelist, Brave ready to finish him off.
Jack proved himself a capable duelist yet again and is able to back up his bravado with a tense match. Even though his victory will be short lived it was an amazing one nonetheless.
Next up I believe Crow will relieve Jack and take on Brave's Polar God Loki. This will be quite interesting seeing that both Jack and Yusei have gained new ace monsters, I am not sure if Crow has one that can match up to a Polar God.
My rating for this is 9/10
