The Songs that have shaped me Part 1

I was born December 31st, 1980. Though in my youth I was not sonically inclined. There are three songs from my far youth in the eighties that somehow have stuck with me through the years.

First is this one. Bette Davis Eyes by Kim Carnes.

It came out in 1981 and for some reason this song has always cheered me up from the time I was small. I am not sure if its the clapping in the background or just the groove of Kim's voice when the song fades out at the end. It has just stuck with me.

Next is Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) by the Eurythmics

This song is still one of the greatest songs every released. Something about its cool beat and dystopian subject matter have stuck with me. I find myself very influenced by it and how I view life. It reflects in my writing and artistic style.

A-HA Take on Me

The song is catchy and the video was amazing to me. It has always stuck on me. Its hard to hear this song and not try to hit that falsetto and fail miserably but have fun trying.

These three songs still resonate with me. They remind me of simpler times and yet been rooted in my artistic aesthetic through subject matter, melody and creativity.
